Abstract

EVIDENCE presented here and in the report by Elsevier et al.¹ mutually establishes the assignment of the human gene for galactokinase (EC 2.7.1.6), the enzyme which converts galactose to galactose-1-phosphate, to chromosome 17. This assignment is based on a syntenic relationship between the genes for thymidine kinase and galactokinase.
