Abstract

To further reduce child occupant injuries, the simple message of 'Buckle Up!' is no longer sufficient. Improved protection of these children will require advances in knowledge regarding the risks and causes of injury to restrained children and the resultant development of appropriate practices in engineering, education, and legislation. The primary care physician, serving as a resource on child occupant protection, can remain abreast of the evolving science of hild occupant protection through easily accessible resources on the World Wide Web.
