Abstract
The authors regret that in the published paper entitled: “The YhhN Protein of Legionella pneumophila is a Lysoplasmalogenase” by M.S. Jurkowitz, A. Patel, L-C Wu, A. Krautwater, D.R. Pfeiffer, and C.E. Bell, we indicated in text on pages 748 and 749 and in Table 2 that lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) did not inhibit the lysoplasmalogenase activity of our purified Legionella pneumophila YhhN protein (called LpYhhN). We have recently repeated these experiments with a new preparation of LPA and found that it is in fact an inhibitor of LpYhhN. We think that the lack of inhibition seen in our earlier experiments, which was at that time surprising to us but confirmed in several independent experiments, may have been due to degradation of the LPA reagent we were using. The inhibition of LpYhhN now seen with the new LPA reagent is competitive in nature, and is similar to the inhibition by LPA seen toward other YhhN homologs we have studied, including human TMEM86A and TMEM86B proteins [1]. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this mistake may have caused other researchers in the field.
